Yellow:  Nick Kwiatkoski

The third-year linebacker started with some early momentum. He looked good in training camp and showed well in the first two preseason games. Since then? Kwiatkoski has gone quiet. His flash moments grew fewer and he’s somewhat fallen back into that serviceable playing style that characterized his career to this point. For a moment it looked like he might actually steal a starting job long-term. Now it’s growing apparent that he’s merely keeping the seat warm until Roquan Smith is ready.

Yellow:  Bennie Fowler

One of the hardest receivers to get a feel for is Fowler. He did not start well, having some drop issues. Recently he seems to have steadied himself, making some nice plays on offense. There’s also the added fact he is a good special teams player. That versatility could make it hard for the Bears to let him walk. At the same time, they have other names on the depth chart they can’t afford to lose. He may be one of the more difficult decisions.
