#5 Lavert Hill (Michigan)

After the departures of Jourdan Lewis and Jeremy Clark following the 2016 season, the Michigan Wolverines were on the hunt for the next great cornerback duo to put on the maize and blue. It didn’t take long to find a pair as Lavert Hill and David Long have quickly become two of the better man-to-man defenders in college football.

The two juniors will both be selected in the draft one day, however, Hill is the better prospect. Coincidentally, his brother Delano Hill was a safety at Michigan and a part of the same 2017 draft class that included Lewis and Clark.

Delano was a late third-round pick of the Seattle Seahawks, a benchmark for Lavert to attempt to top.

Michigan allowed the fewest yards passing per game in the FBS last season and return all four starters in the secondary. Hill was a big reason why as the 5-foot-11 corner showcased his elite ball skills on a weekly basis. He finished his sophomore campaign with two interceptions and seven pass breakups despite opposing quarterbacks doing their best to avoid his side of the field.
