Two preseason games remain between the Chicago Bears and their date with the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football in September.

They have to do everything they can to put together the best roster possible. Several positions remain up for grabs and the battles for them are heating up like never before. These next two weeks may be the pivotal moment for a lot of young men. Not just in terms of winning a starting job but also making the roster at all.

So which positions remain undecided, who are the primary participants and who could be considered the leading man to win it at this point? These questions will be answered below, starting with a free-for-all at wide receiver.

Wide receiver:  Josh Bellamy vs. Bennie Fowler, Marlon Brown, and Tanner Gentry

In a rare situation, it appears the Bears receiver situation is already locked in for the most part. Allen Robinson and Taylor Gabriel were brought in as free agents. Anthony Miller is a 2nd round pick. Kevin White is a former 1st rounder who wouldn’t help the cap situation much anyway if cut. Javon Wims is their 7th rounder and has played well in preseason. That’s five spots filled. Now it’s a question of whether the Bears want to carry a sixth.

Leader:  Bellamy

Bellamy could write the book on survival in the NFL. He always finds a way to stick around. He’s done well on offense in his limited snaps thus far and remains a special teams standout. Bennie Fowler and Marlon Brown have struggled at times with catching the football. Tanner Gentry remains a solid receiver but hasn’t stood out on special teams. Everybody knows that can be the decisive factor at the bottom of a depth chart.
