The Jets have a very interesting battle going on at the tight end position, featuring a number of players who had better college careers than they did pro potential, apparently.

Some of the more prominent guys in that group include former Clemson star Jordan Leggett, former Miami star Clive Walford, and another former Miami star in Chris Herndon.

Herndon was a fourth-round pick of the Jets in the 2018 NFL Draft, and has apparently been a standout player this offseason.

Herndon has the size and athleticism to be a major mismatch in the passing game, and he will continue to get the chance to prove he can be Sam Darnold’s number one tight end heading into the first regular season game.

Even if he isn’t right away, it likely won’t take much time.

He hasn’t caught any passes in the preseason through two games, but he’s primed to make an impact in the third week and prove what he’s shown in practices can translate to the games.
