The New York Jets have a very talented rookie class. Which three players are poised to start week one and make an impact?

The youth movement is on with the New York Jets.

This team has some stud rookies and young players all over the roster, ready to compete and contribute on opening weekend.

Which rookies in 2018 have been the most impressive so far? Which players have inspired enough confidence in the coaching staff to get the starting nod week one?

Let’s take a look at a trio that could be helping the Jets turn things around rather quickly.

Sam Darnold, QB

Starting with the obvious selection.

Sam Darnold was considered pro-ready by some coming out of USC, and too raw in certain areas by others to be ready to play right away.

He’s proven through OTAs, training camp, and a couple weeks of the preseason that he is absolutely ready for the New York spotlight.

Darnold wasn’t even necessarily expected to be available to the Jets in the 2018 NFL Draft, even after they traded up to the third overall spot to get him.

The Browns opted for Baker Mayfield after months of speculation they were honing in on Darnold, and the Jets watched as the Giants passed on quarterbacks for Saquon Barkley.

Darnold fell into their laps, and they probably couldn’t have been more excited about it.

He hasn’t been perfect, but Darnold has more than proven his worth as a top draft pick even for the price the Jets paid to move up and get him.

He should be a week one starter and impact player sooner than later.
