Which first-year players stood out in week two of the NFL preseason? Which players made the most improvement?
We take a look at some of the top performers around the league in week two of the preseason, starting with the new Buffalo Bills franchise quarterback.
Josh Allen, QB
In his preseason debut against the Carolina Panthers, Allen was a bit of a mixed bag, showing in a smaller sample size essentially exactly what he did over the course of his career at Wyoming.
Allen had some overthrows, some eye-popping throws, and finished the game a little too inefficient for comfort with a completion percentage under 48 percent.
Allen rose to the occasion in a duel against Baker Mayfield, however, completing nine of his 13 passes for 60 yards and a touchdown.
His rating climbed considerably, and Allen just looked much more comfortable.
As a result, the Bills are now planning to give him reps with the first team and it’s unlikely he relinquishes that role anytime soon.
