MIDDLE LINEBACKER
This is one of those ‘good problems’ to have.
Washington has too many really good middle linebackers.
Zach Brown and Mason Foster are as good a starting tandem at inside linebacker for a 3-4 defense as any team in the NFC.
Josh Harvey Clemons is an athletic freak at 6’4″ 230 pounds running a40-yard dash in the high 4.5s. He can do just about anything asked of him from rushing the quarterback to dropping into coverage. He’s not going anywhere.
Shaun-Dion Hamilton just has too much potential. He would be scarfed up off of waivers and never get near the practice squad, so he’s another keeper. So, who do you keep between Zach Vigil and Martrell Spaight?
Zach Vigil is so good. He’s smart and athletic. And, he is good in coverage, something Spaight struggles with at times.
That being said, Spaight is always around the ball. Additionally, he is probably the hardest hitter on the team.
Thank God I’m not a coach because this is the kind of thing that gets them fired. Vigil is the better football player, but I’m keeping Martrell Spaight.
The third roster bubble bust shocker – Zach Vigil gets waived.
