NFL Power Ranking Preseason Edition: NFC only gets better
To say the Rams improved this offseason would be a dramatic understatement. It’s one of the biggest splurges on stars since the Eagles “Dream Team” in 2011, which subsequently went 8-8.
Los Angeles added Marcus Peters, Ndamukong Suh, Aqib Talib, and Brandin Cooks despite already having a quality depth chart, one that got them to the playoffs for the first time since 2004.
Jared Goff took the year two leap forward after many thought the number one overall pick had bust written all over him. Amazing what can happen when you surround a player with the right coaches. Goff looks like the prized prospect Los Angeles wanted when they traded up to the first overall pick.
Loaded with Cooks, Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods, and Todd Gurley on offense the Rams are going to come out firing on offense this year. They’ve struck on nearly every player they’ve picked up on offense, again thanks to the coaching and front office.
Keep an eye on rookie running back John Kelly to be the next weapon they hit on coming out of Tennessee.
Defensively the Rams are just as loaded with the aforementioned Peters, Suh, and Talib coming this offseason. They hope to have Aaron Donald back on a new deal in the near future, and Lamarcus Joyner returns after being franchise tagged.
They’re a team with lofty expectations, but they have the talent to meet them. I expect Los Angeles, assuming there’s no major injury, to run away with the West.
