NFL Power Ranking Preseason Edition: NFC only gets better
We ran a Twitter poll recently asking which quarterback fans would rather want, Jameis Winston or Marcus Mariota. The Titans quarterback won by an overwhelming margin despite taking a step back last season throwing more interceptions than touchdowns.
Mariota has taken the Titans forward every season, making the playoffs and winning the wild card game last year.
Tennessee doesn’t have a true number one receiver, but they hope last year’s first round pick Corey Davis can rebound after a disappointing rookie season where he started only nine games and had zero touchdowns. Tajae Sharpe missed all of last season, and Taywan Taylor only had 231 receiving yards last year.
A lot of the offense will run through the running backs and tight ends with Delanie Walker getting a new deal and the Titans signing Dion Lewis. Despite Demarco Murray’s retirement, the Titans are strong at running back with Lewis joining Derrick Henry.
Tennessee only drafted four players this year, three of which were on defense. Getting linebackers Rashaan Evans and Harold Landry could be a steal for the Titans down the road. I like both linebackers to play a major role going forward.
Their secondary is also strong with the acquisitions of Malcolm Butler and Kenny Vaccaro, who join Adoree’ Jackson, Kevin Byard and Logan Ryan. I see Byard having another good season after leading the league with eight interceptions last year en route to an All-Pro designation.
