NFL Power Ranking Preseason Edition: NFC only gets better
While any losing season is considered a major failure in Denver (they have more Super Bowl appearances since 1984 than they do losing seasons), the 2017 season was particularly terrible.
As a matter of fact, it is considered one of the worst in franchise history, but that is perhaps an overstatement given situations like what we saw in Cleveland last year, and really over the past couple of years.
Broncos fans simply have high expectations, and those expectations are set not only by the fans, but those in charge of the team.
General manager John Elway tries to field a roster worthy of at least winning the division every season, and the past couple of years, the team simply hasn’t had the quarterback play to be able to make that happen.
This year, with Case Keenum under center, expectations have grown again in Denver and the team has renewed hope.
The defense has some key pieces fully healthy, but how will they fare without one of the leaders of the No Fly Zone, Aqib Talib?
If the Broncos are markedly improved offensively, this looks like a balanced enough roster on paper to compete in the AFC West but they have a lot to prove.
