NFL Power Ranking Preseason Edition: NFC only gets better
These aren’t the Seahawks we’re used to seeing, which means they likely take a step back. Yes, they have Russell Wilson, but the rest of the depth chart brings some major questions.
I’m not loving most of the weapons around Wilson, and most of them are new to the scene. Brandon Marshall, Jaron Brown, and first round pick Rashaad Penny came in this offseason with Tyler Lockett, Doug Baldwin, and Chris Carson returning.
No more Jimmy Graham, Paul Richardson, or Thomas Rawls in this offense.
There’s a lot of potential in the offensive line with Ethan Pocic, Justin Britt, and Germain Ifedi slated to start, but they need to take steps forward in their play and prove themselves.
The defensive side of the ball has always been the Seahawks bread and butter, but this year they’re missing the butter. Kam Chancellor, Michael Bennett, Richard Sherman, and Cliff Avril are gone, and Earl Thomas continues to hold out.
That’s not to say the cupboards are bare, especially with the addition of Rasheem Green and Shaquem Griffin. Outside of Shaquem’s brother Shaquill, there’s little to love about the Seahawks secondary.
Seattle needs a lot of their young players to step up to have a chance this year, and I think it’s likely they miss the playoffs yet again. It’s a team in transition with an expensive quarterback and a lot of misses in the draft.
