College Football: Wide Receivers Replacing 2018 NFL Draftees
By Talon Graff
Memphis Tigers – Damonte Coxie
The rebuilding Chicago Bears are hopeful that Anthony Miller, their second-round selection, and Mitchell Trubisky will help each other develop their NFL games. Mike Norvell and company are hoping that quarterback David Moore and Damonte Coxie can do the same at the college level. Coxie only caught 23 passes during his freshman season, but expectations at Memphis are high for the young man.
The 6’3, 200 pounder is raw but the clay is there, it just needs to be molded. The 2017 Memphis Tiger receiving corp will go down in one of the greatest in school history, so the 2018 crop of receivers have a lot to live up to. Damonte Coxie will be leaned on to spearhead that charge.
Oklahoma State Cowboys – Dillon Stoner
The Oklahoma State Air Raid offense will miss James Washington and Marcell Ateman, but the redshirt sophomore Dillon Stoner is planning on the Cowboy offense skipping zero beats. Stoner contributed 576 yards and six touchdowns in his first year on the Stillwater campus. He’s an even 6’0 and 200 lbs and has plenty of tools to utilize.
He is fast, has soft hands, can track the ball, and makes difficult sideline catches. He provides a deep threat while also being able to make people miss in space after short or intermediate catches. Mike Gundy shouldn’t miss his former studs now NFL pros too much once Stoner gets rolling.
