Cleveland Browns vs New York Giants

The top two picks in the 2018 NFL Draft will make their professional debuts Saturday night in East Rutherford, New Jersey, ushering in a new era of NFL talent.

Number one overall pick Baker Mayfield will play in a Browns uniform as he battles veteran Tyrod Taylor for the starting job. The overall belief is that Taylor will be the starter week one against Pittsburgh in Cleveland.

Saquon Barkley will once again play in blue after the Giants selected him out of Penn State. The highest-drafted running back since Reggie Bush in 2006, Barkley has an immense amount of pressure on him to lead the Giants revamped offense.

Beyond the top two picks from the 2018 NFL Draft, there are plenty of rookies and storylines to offer tonight.

Nick Chubb, Denzel Ward, and Antonio Callaway are three rookies for Cleveland who could see significant playing time although Callaway was recently cited for marijuana possession after being pulled over.

New York’s defense will have two rookies to watch, BJ Hill and Lorenzo Carter, who are expected to make significant impacts. Rookie quarterback Kyle Lauletta will also be available as he battles second-year Giant Davis Webb for the backup job.

Lauletta was seen as a potential second-round pick out of Richmond who fell to the Giants in the fourth round. He had an excellent Senior Bowl performance, and our own Dylan Huberman looked at whether Lauletta could be the long-term answer at quarterback once Eli Manning retires in a couple of years.
