The Chicago Bears have something interesting on defense, but it’s far from what one might call an elite unit. They’re well-coached and have some good pieces in place but there’s still something missing. A good look would reveal they’re light in the pants when it comes to pass rushers. Outside of Leonard Floyd, they have nobody on the edge who can apply consistent pressure, at least not anybody proven.

In a division loaded with quarterbacks, that’s a death sentence. Montez Sweat is a true specimen with defensive end power and length but the ability to play in space like a 3-4 outside linebacker must. He doesn’t just win with natural gifts. He can win with an array of moves.
