The Pittsburgh Steelers already have one of the best passing offenses in the NFL, but Antonio Brown feels there’s no harm in try to get better.

The All-Pro wide receiver has done everything there is to do from an individual standpoint. All that remains is finding a way to win the Super Bowl. That means finding ways to make the team as talented as possible. If that means giving up some of his valuable targets to another receiver who can contribute, then he seems open to it. At least that’s what he made it look like when he sent out a surprise recruiting pitch on Twitter for free agent Dez Bryant.

Bryant was cut by the Dallas Cowboys earlier this year. Now the wide receiver sits as the most notable name on the open market. Word is he’s come close to signing with two other AFC North teams in the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns. Baltimore failed to offer the contract he wanted. Thus far there’s been smoke but little flames from the Cleveland end. It would seem Brown hopes his Steelers might make him a valued ally rather than a pending enemy.

Steelers don’t need Bryant but he could definitely help them

Brown certainly must be enamored with the idea of pairing with another veteran Pro Bowler like Bryant. It would only make his job easier, at least in theory. That being said, the Steelers don’t really have any pressing need to sign him. They already have Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster as their top two guys, with a re-signed Eli Rogers and 2nd round pick James Washington as well. Not to mention former 1st rounders Darius Heyward-Bey and Justin Hunter.

So they aren’t hurting at the position by any stretch. Would GM Kevin Colbert be willing to pay the money Bryant is asking and endure the baggage he brings to the table? Highly unlikely. So all things considered, it doesn’t look like Brown is going to get his wish. The Steelers don’t need Bryant and have no reason to want him either. Nevertheless, it’s still a fun scenario to think about. Who knows, maybe events will transpire where it ends up happening anyway. The NFL can be funny in that way. Until Bryant is signed, the possibility is there.
