New Orleans Saints

22. player. 15. . S. New Orleans Saints. Marcus Williams

If there is any player who is extra motivated to perform in 2018, it’s Marcus Williams. Up until the divisional playoffs in January, he’d been having a tremendous rookie season for the New Orleans Saints, tallying four interceptions. Things were going well in the game as the defense was able to stifle the Vikings for most of the second half. Sadly they weren’t able to sustain it, and Williams became the goat for their collapse when he failed to tackle Stefon Diggs on the now iconic “Miracle in Minnesota” play that won the Vikings the game.

Williams took the brunt of the blame for the loss. While it was a rough mistake, it wasn’t entirely fair. In the end, that disaster may end up serving as the perfect motivation for the young safety in 2018. He has a lot to prove, both to his critics and himself. The Saints took steps to help him by improving their pass rush depth. If that holds, his skill as a ballhawk will shine like never before.
