5. Khalil Tate, Arizona

Think West Coast version of Lamar Jackson.

With the ball in Tate’s hands, a big play is on the cusp. It was evident this past season with 1,591 yards, 14 touchdowns, and nine interceptions as well as 1,411 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns while averaging 9.2 yards per carry.

Tate put together a ferocious month of October with four straight games of 190 or more in QB rating and in one particular outing, against Colorado, where he rushed for 327 yards and four touchdowns and threw for another passing score.

Believe it or not, Tate opens the season as a Heisman candidate and with the tutelage of new head coach Kevin Sumlin, his 2018 season could see a notable progression in skill set and numbers.

Tate resides in the Pac-12 so many on the East Coast are not quite familiar with the talents of Tate but at the conclusion of the upcoming season, that will likely change in his favor.
