Stock Down:  Mitch Trubisky

This by no means is a reason to panic. It’s merely an indicator that the Bears’ young quarterback isn’t where he wants to be just yet. Trubisky didn’t exactly have optimal conditions in his first padded practice. The rain was off and on most of the time, making for slick footballs and a slippery playing surface. As a result, a number of his throws came in a little low or behind his receivers. On top of that, he was a bit slow on some of his reads, taking a lot of time to deliver the ball.

These are all things that should be correctable over time. It’s important to remember that Trubisky is starting over in a completely new offense. One that incorporates elements of the West Coast and Oregon spread systems. These are not easy to learn. He needs time to absorb and process. The more he practices and gets in sync with his receivers, the better he’ll be able to execute. For the time being it’s a simple fact that he has work to do.
