Much of the Atlanta Falcons offseason has been focused on Matt Ryan’s six-year, $169.25 million contract. Beyond that historic deal the Falcons have had a relatively quiet offseason, bringing in just four new players through free agents.

Where Atlanta made their biggest impact was through the NFL Draft, adding Alabama wide receiver Calvin Ridley to an already dynamic offense.

Coming off his second National Championship with the Crimson Tide, Ridley adds another dynamic talent to the Falcons receiving corp. Joining Julio Jones and Mohamed Sanu, Ridley has an opportunity to pass Sanu as the number two receiver on the depth chart.

Ridley’s arrival will allow for space in the middle of the field for his teammates to get more open opportunities, especially tight end Austin Hooper.

The receiver position wasn’t necessarily a major need for the Falcons, but by taking the best player available they’ve given their quarterback every opportunity to succeed and take them back to the Super Bowl.
