Despite being everyone’s Cinderella this offseason the Los Angeles Chargers haven’t done all that much in terms of adding talent. The added center Mike Pouncey, tight end Virgil Green, and kicker Caleb Sturgis, but haven’t signed any other new players to deals worth more than $1 million.

Los Angeles made seven picks in the 2018 NFL Draft, but only one projects to start for them this year. Derwin James took a major slide on draft day, falling right into the Chargers lap at 17th overall.

The Chargers defense has been void of a thumper in their secondary since Eric Weddle left in 2016, and James brings that and so much more to the Chargers defense. He’ll be all over the field in Gus Bradley’s defense and could be one of the leading Defensive Player of the Year candidates at seasons end.
