Running Back, NFL Draft. . Kerryon Johnson. . team. 50.

Detroit’s rushing struggles have been well-documented with only two 1,000 yard rushers since 2004. They’ve had major swings and misses with Ameer Abdullah, Jahvid Best, and Mikel Leshoure in recent drafts, and they hope Kerryon Johnson doesn’t follow that trend.

The Auburn product went 43rd overall to Detroit after a breakout rushing season, posting nearly 1,400 yards and 18 touchdowns for the Tigers. That’s more production than the entire Lions team last year, who had 10 players make a rushing attempt.

Free agent addition Devon Kennard and first-round pick Frank Ragnow also project to be major pieces of the Lions going forward, but neither will match what Johnson could mean to this Lions franchise if he breaks their running back curse.
