The Cleveland Browns have not been shy about having some pretty high interest in Western Michigan cornerback Sam Beal, a supplemental draft prospect…

As the NFL world gears up for the most exciting supplemental draft since Josh Gordon was available in 2012, the Cleveland Browns may again be the team that makes the biggest splash.

The Browns made their presence known at the pro day of Western Michigan cornerback Sam Beal, who proved he’s absolutely ready for the next level athletically in front of scouts and executives from all 32 NFL teams.

Not the least of which among those executives was Cleveland Browns general manager John Dorsey, who is coming off of a whale of an offseason and potentially looking to add to his new crop of players.

Any number of teams could be in the mix to take the talented Beal, but the Browns are sort of in the prime position to do so.

Cleveland owns two third-round picks in the 2019 NFL Draft and will have the best odds with a tier one bid in that particular round if they should choose to put one in for Beal or anyone else.

The Browns’ blatant interest in Beal could end up being simply due diligence, but it’s rare for a coach or executive to make a trip to a player’s pro day unless there is significant interest.

This could also prompt some team in the bottom tier of the second round to try and sneak ahead of the Browns and pick Beal.

Is Beal worth such an investment?

Athletically and in terms of his upside, it appears he has the potential to be a shutdown cornerback in the NFL. With that said, there is not a very large sample size to work with and teams would definitely be basing this off of Beal’s upside, which is huge.

If the Browns were to add Beal into the mix, it would give them two supremely talented young perimeter cornerbacks capable of playing press-man coverage and attacking the football.

As of right now, it would appear Cleveland is the team to watch for Sam Beal.
