Seattle Seahawks

S. Seattle Seahawks. John Harris . 29. player. 36.

Never mind him being an unsung hero for the Seattle Seahawks. Answer this question. How is it a guy like John Harris has 50 interceptions in his career and not only isn’t in the Hall of Fame but also never even went to a Pro Bowl? Not only is he overlooked in Seattle history, he might be one of the most overlooked in all of NFL history.

Like most expansion teams it took the Seahawks a long time to figure out how to win. It took the heroic efforts of guys like Harris to help lead the way. The safety was a nightmare for quarterbacks in his early career. He had 22 interceptions in just his first four seasons alone. It was in 1983 though where he finally got a chance to shine.

Seattle made the playoffs for the first time in 1983. After an easy win over Denver in the wild card round, they ran into problems against the Dolphins the next week. In need of a big play, Harris stepped up not once but twice. He intercepted Dan Marino early and then recovered a key fumble that led to a touchdown to give his team the lead. The Seahawks won the game 27-20 to reach their first conference championship.
