New Orleans Saints

Pierre Thomas . 22. player. 15. . RB. New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints have had a fair share of really good running backs to come through town in the past 18 years from Deuce McAllister to Mark Ingram and now Alvin Kamara. All those men have something in common too. They don’t have a ring. This should prove that sometimes it’s not the most talented that gets the ring but the one who wants it most.

Pierre Thomas never had the talent of those men but there was nobody who ran harder and played with more urgency than the Chicago native. All of that came to ahead in the 2009 season. Thomas was never the starter that season but he may have been the best back on the team. Considering Reggie Bush was the other guy, that’s saying something.

Thomas proved he was a true gamer when the Saints reached the playoffs. First came the NFC championships against Minnesota where he scored two crucial touchdowns, one to tie the game 7-7 and another to gain a 21-14 lead. Then in the Super Bowl, he struck again, cashing in the big touchdown immediately following the iconic onside kick to open the second half.

New Orleans never lost a playoff game in which Thomas scored a touchdown.
