Philadelphia Eagles: 5 breakout player candidates for 2018
Projected to be a top-10 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, Sidney Jones saw his stock plummet when he tore his achillies during his pro day. After sitting out all but one game during his rookie season, Jones projects to start opposite Ronald Darby as the Eagles starting outside corners.
Jones made eight interceptions with 21 pass deflections in three years with Washington leading up to his pro day injury. He may have been an option for New York over Eli Apple at 10th overall or for Tampa Bay over Vernon Hargreaves with the 11th pick.
For the Eagles to grab Jones in the second round and stash him during their Super Bowl season was a great luxury. They have a young core of cornerbacks with Darby, Jones, Jalen Mills, and Rasul Douglas who could be a dominant group in the next couple of years.
