The New York Giants are poised for a potential breakout season in 2018, but which five players could have breakout individual seasons?

The New York Giants have plenty of work ahead of them if they are going to compete in the NFC East in 2018.

With the hiring of Pat Shurmur, Odell Beckham Jr. returning to health, and the addition of some really talented players, it’s easy to think the Giants could bounce back in a big way in 2018.

Here are their top five breakout player candidates…

5. Cody Latimer, WR

The Denver Broncos selected Cody Latimer in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft, a class of wide receivers that has become known as one of the best in recent history.

Unfortunately for Latimer, his name does not get attached to the likes of new teammate Odell Beckham Jr. or Mike Evans, Brandin Cooks, Sammy Watkins, Jarvis Landry, Davante Adams, Allen Robinson, and so many others.

Certainly not for lack of talent, however.

Latimer may be one of the most physically gifted players in the NFL, but his inability to step into a golden opportunity in Denver in 2014 and thrive is still mind-boggling.

Latimer had the chance in 2014 to replace Eric Decker in Denver’s offense led by Peyton Manning, but he couldn’t get onto the field, even for specifically packaged plays.

It wasn’t until the final two years of his rookie contract that Latimer would start to show signs of the promise he had as a prospect at Indiana, making some really nice plays for the Broncos in 2017.

He’s developed into a top flight special teams player, and has a chance in New York to be a viable fourth option at receiver along with Beckham, Sterling Shepard, Evan Engram, and Beckham.
