1. Michael Gallup, WR

Someone has to step up at the wide receiver position for the Dallas Cowboys.

Dez Bryant has been released, and the Cowboys will be looking for a new number one target in the passing game.

Terrance Williams returns this season and the Cowboys also brought in Allen Hurns from the Jacksonville Jaguars, but neither of those guys has the all-around game of Michael Gallup.

It’s very difficult for players to transition from college to the pros, especially at wide receiver, but Gallup excels at making plays deep downfield and after the catch, so he wouldn’t necessarily need to be doing a bunch of complicated things for the Cowboys to be effective.

Because it looks like Gallup could be a top option in the Cowboys’ passing game, he gets the nod as the number one breakout player candidate.

He was dominant in his two seasons at Colorado State, catching 176 passes for 2,690 yards and 21 touchdowns.

This guy is a playmaker.
