Oakland Raiders

HC. Kansas City Chiefs. Marty Schottenheimer . 25. player. 28.

The Oakland Raiders seemed to revel playing the bad guy role during much of their existence. This earned them plenty of enemies over a span of decades, but none seemed to take that dislike to a more personal level than Marty Schottenheimer. He was never shy about it, even dubbing every time his team played them “Raider Week.”

Schottenheimer was always a man big on respect and he felt the Raiders were too arrogant for their own good and seemed to revel in knocking them down a peg or two at every opportunity. This he did with a ruthless precision. From 1989 to 1998 encompassing his entire run in Kansas City, Schottenheimer held a staggering record of 18-3 against the Silver and Black.

This included a 10-6 triumph in 1991, the first playoff meeting between the two teams in 31 years. The Raiders made the playoffs just three times during that span, due in large part to their inability to get past the Chiefs. It didn’t end there though. Schottenheimer resurfaced in 2002, this time as head coach of the San Diego Chargers, another Oakland division rival.

His record against them during that run:  8-2.
