2018 NFL Power Rankings: Biggest QB Teases For All 32 Teams
By Erik Lambert
The Chicago Bears gave up two 1st round picks and a 3rd round pick to the Denver Broncos in 2009 to secure the contract rights to Jay Cutler. At the time they thought they were getting the franchise quarterback they were missing that would finally bring in a Super Bowl. It almost came true. Cutler led them to the NFC championship in 2010 and became the all-time leading passer in franchise history.
Sadly it never materialized. Cutler finished 51-51 in his Bears career. He had 16 comebacks in the 4th quarter during his run but also had 109 interceptions, several of them of the game-ending variety. His inconsistency was a regular theme he could never escape. Not all of it was his fault, but the results can’t be altered anymore.
