2018 NFL Power Rankings: Biggest QB Teases For All 32 Teams
By Erik Lambert
Joe Ferguson was the starter for a long time in Buffalo, so it might seem difficult to tag him as a tease. That’s not true though. There are plenty of cases where quarterbacks keep jobs for a long time, less due to outstanding play and more due to playing just well enough to hang on. Ferguson was firmly in the latter category.
Ferguson helped the team to the playoffs in 1974 and then threw 25 touchdowns in 1975. Hopes were high the team would be ready for a Super Bowl run but it never materialized. Ferguson battled injury and inconsistency for the next several years. He made the playoffs two more times but was never a big factor when that happened.
