2018 NFL Power Rankings: Biggest QB Teases For All 32 Teams
By Erik Lambert
The Washington Redskins gave up a king’s ransom to get Robert Griffin III in 2012. They felt the Baylor quarterback could be a superstar under the guidance of Mike Shanahan. Here’s the thing. They were almost right. Griffin was outstanding his rookie season, throwing 20 touchdowns to five interceptions and rushing for 815 yards and another seven touchdowns.
He claimed Rookie of the Year honors and went to the Pro Bowl while Washington made the playoffs. Sadly, that’s as far as he got. Griffin tore up his knee in the playoff game and was never the same afterward. He fell off a cliff over the next few years and eventually lost his job to Kirk Cousins. He showed mere shadows of the player he’d once been.
Redskins fans were left to wonder what could’ve been had he not gotten hurt.
