2018 NFL Power Rankings: Biggest QB Teases For All 32 Teams
By Erik Lambert
The Baltimore Ravens were Super Bowl champions in 2000. So one would think they’d like to maintain the status quo going into 2001. They decided to tweak the formula by releasing quarterback Trent Dilfer and signing free agent Elvis Grbac, fresh off a strong season in Kansas City. They felt he’d give them the best possible chance to be contenders long-term.
They were wrong. Grbac regressed in a big way that season, throwing just 15 touchdowns to 18 interceptions. Worse still, he abruptly retired the next year, leaving the Ravens out in the cold. It’s easily the worst quarterback miss the organization has made since moving to Baltimore. A classic case of being lured in too much by one good year from a player elsewhere.
