The truth is Jeff George teased several teams in his long career, but the one that probably got the worst of it was the Atlanta Falcons. They took a calculated risk on the former #1 overall pick in 1994. After a decent run that year, he began to signal that he might finally be figuring it out in ’95 with 4,143 yards and 24 touchdowns to 11 interceptions.

There were Super Bowl whispers around Atlanta in 1997. George met those by getting in a sideline fight with his head coach and getting benched the rest of the year. The Falcons finished 3-13 and George was chased out of town. He continued his trend in stops at Oakland and Minnesota as well. Atlanta fans understood the pain.
