2018 NFL Power Rankings: Biggest QB Teases For All 32 Teams
By Erik Lambert
Wait, what? This doesn’t make any sense. How can a lock first ballot Hall of Famer like Drew Brees ever be called a quarterback tease? This is true, at least for the New Orleans Saints. However, the case is quite different for Los Angeles Chargers fans. So many forget that it was the Bolts who drafted Brees back in 2001 and helped develop him into a Pro Bowler.
He showed what he could be in 2004, throwing 27 touchdowns to just seven interceptions while going over 4,000 passing yards. Unfortunately, that was the same year Phillip Rivers was drafted. So it already became apparent that plans were to move on from Brees. The next year he had a winning record, but his numbers dipped slightly and then he tore his rotator cuff.
The team took the opportunity to insert Rivers the next year and Brees was cast off to free agency, most assuming he was damaged goods. They were wrong and in spite of Rivers’ success since fans are left wondering what could’ve been.
