2018 NFL Power Rankings: Biggest QB Teases For All 32 Teams
By Erik Lambert
It’s hard not to feel for Bert Jones. The man played his butt off for years with the old Baltimore Colts. He put his body on the line each and every Sunday. People forget how talented he was. They even said he could’ve and should’ve been the first John Elway. He was that gifted in terms of athleticism and arm strength. Sadly it just wasn’t meant to be.
Jones struggled his first two years but soon led the Colts to three-straight playoff appearances from 1975 to 1977. It was in 1976 that he peaked, throwing for over 3,100 yards and 24 touchdowns with nine interceptions. He took home league MVP honors that year. Injuries soon caught up to him though and he was never able to find that form again for the rest of his career.
