Here is an in-depth look at five prospects eligible for the 2019 NFL Draft who are being overrated and over-hyped going into the season…

It’s easy to make mistakes when evaluating NFL talent from year to year, but some of those mistakes wouldn’t be so prominent if players didn’t get overrated and over-hyped by the media.

Some of these players may indeed turn out to be top flight prospects but heading into the very preliminary stages of 2019 NFL Draft evaluation, here are five players that are getting overrated quite a bit…

5. Drew Lock, QB, Missouri

Drew Lock is such an interesting mixed bag at the quarterback position. He has excellent size for the position at 6’4″ 225 pounds, and the elite arm strength NFL teams covet to be able to make throws to all levels of the field.

In many ways, however, Lock is reminiscent of Josh Allen with his accuracy struggles. Lock has had three seasons at Missouri and his highest completion percentage so far is 57.8 percent (2017 season).

Allen was absolutely destroyed in the pre-draft process for his accuracy issues, and unless Lock can find a way to push that number up significantly, he’ll face similar scrutiny.

Lock gets a pass where Allen didn’t, however, for the fact that he blew up the SEC last season with 44 touchdown passes and has 67 touchdowns compared to just 23 interceptions over the past two seasons.

Allen didn’t eclipse 67 touchdowns in his entire career at Wyoming.

Lock has a chance to be much more productive with the throws he does make than Allen, which is why I like him a little better as a player, but there’s work to be done here. He needs to prove this year he can complete passes at a higher rate, no question about it.
