Baker Mayfield destroys Colin Cowherd on his own show
Baker Mayfield was the top pick in the 2018 NFL Draft despite Colin Cowherd’s assertion he wasn’t draftable. The two met face to face recently…
Colin Cowherd of FOX Sports does a great job of stirring the pot, and he always has. One of his more controversial opinions, however, was that he thought Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield was ‘undraftable’.
Mayfield went on obviously to be the number one overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft despite Cowherd’s evaluation, and the two finally met face to face on Cowherd’s show.
Here’s some of the footage:
Cowherd is trying to say that Mayfield is a bad teammate for running the opposite direction as his teammates after a touchdown, but Mayfield notes that a large contingent of Oklahoma fans, as well as the OU band, are seated in the direction he’s running, and he recalls immediately looping back around and running to the sideline to celebrate with his teammates.
Cowherd’s assertion on Mayfield here is absurd, and if anything else, he should have been impressed at Mayfield’s ability to recall this exact situation.

In the pre-draft process, that was one trait that really stood out about Mayfield. In his interview with Russell Wilson and a number of other interviews leading up to the 2018 NFL Draft, Mayfield’s ability to recall very specific moments or plays in games was one of the things that were most impressive.
Down to very small details, Mayfield remembered many of his worst plays in addition to some of his favorites. He recalls specific coverages and which players were on the field at the time, and that recall goes back years.
Apparently, his ability to recall specific moments from games is not limited just to plays, but post-touchdown celebrations.
Both Mayfield and Cowherd hold their ground but Cowherd’s opinion about Mayfield based on post-touchdown celebrations is absolutely ridiculous.

Cowherd wasn’t at the Senior Bowl, watching Mayfield sprint from drill to drill and running to teammates when they made good plays or encouraging fellow quarterbacks after reps.
His leadership and abilities or likeability among teammates is not a question mark at this point. Mayfield’s teammates love him, and Cowherd is just grasping at air.
