2018 NFL Power Rankings: Top 32 Head Coaches in the NFL
By Erik Lambert
A lot of people are dumping on Pete Carroll these days, including some of his own former players. Most of it has to do with what happened in the Super Bowl three years ago. Is that really fair? One play should not define the legacy of a head coach. If one were to step back and truly take it all in, they’d recognize that Carroll was and still is one of the best in the business.
Even before getting to Seattle he led the Patriots to two-straight playoff appearances in 1997 and 1998. His work with the Seahawks though is what built his legacy. He turned the franchise around in a few short years, crafting one of the greatest defenses in NFL history and setting the stage for a dominant run to a Super Bowl title in 2013. The team has made the playoffs six times in eight years and never had fewer than seven wins in a season.
