“Riverboat” Ron Rivera has been the best head coach in Carolina Panthers history. Amidst all the hoopla of the NFC and the ever-growing string of media darlings, he’s continued to go about his business with steady efficiency. After a slow start to his tenure, his success has grown to include four playoff trips in the past five seasons and a Super Bowl appearance in 2015.

Most see him as a defensive specialist. While this is true, it’s overshadowed the phenomenal job he’s done developing Cam Newton into a true NFL passer, culminating in his MVP year. People talk about needing an offensive coach to do such things. Rivera proves yet again this is false. What you need is a good coach and he continues to prove he’s a good coach.
