2018 NFL Power Rankings: Top 32 Head Coaches in the NFL
By Erik Lambert
People will call him out for the disaster in the NFC championship game. Everything went wrong for Minnesota. The offense was inert and Mike Zimmer’s vaunted #1 defense was shredded for 38 points. It’s clear his team wasn’t ready to play and that falls at the feet of the head coach. It’s fair, but one game should not define whether Zimmer is a good coach or not.
In truth what he was able to do just getting that team to that game was impressive enough. The Vikings lost their starting quarterback and starting running back early in the year. Yet with journeyman Case Keenum they still managed to go 13-3. Minnesota has become a Super Bowl contender under his watch and are favorites to dethrone the Eagles this year. That’s because of him.
