2018 NFL Power Rankings: Top 32 Head Coaches in the NFL
By Erik Lambert
The man hasn’t coached in 10 years. How can anybody justify ranking him this high? One word: credibility. We can’t say for sure if the game as passed Jon Gruden by. He has to actually coach some games this year for that to happen. All one can go on is what he’s done up to this point and Gruden left the game with a strong head coaching legacy in Oakland and Tampa Bay.
With the Raiders, Gruden transformed them from inconsistent occasional to a regular playoff contender. Then in Tampa Bay, he turned a regular playoff contender into a Super Bowl champion in 2002. His final four years in the league involved three winning seasons and a playoff trip. If he hasn’t lost his edge on the sideline, the Raiders are in good shape moving forward.
