2018 NFL Power Rankings: Top 32 Head Coaches in the NFL
By Erik Lambert
It’s hard not to feel like the Arizona Cardinals “settled” for Steve Wilks this year. The state of their roster with loads of holes and age concerns made it an unattractive position for many of the top candidates. Thus Wilks became a favorite because he was less sought-after and thus easier to lure in. Of course time will tell whether he’s good or not, but the current state looks gloomy.
Bruce Arians left behind a team on the precipice of a rebuild. The Cardinals have already lost a number of their mainstay either to retirement or free agency. Larry Fitzgerald won’t be far behind. Wilks is also in the process of switching systems, which can be a tricky business for an inexperienced head coach. All the variables aren’t swung in his favor, so it will be interesting to see how he handles it.
