2018 NFL Power Rankings: Top 32 Head Coaches in the NFL
By Erik Lambert
It might seem a bit unusual that reigning NFL Coach of the Year is only 14th on the list. There’s no denying what Sean McVay did in 2017 was impressive. He took a team that was floundering with little to no direction, especially on offense and transformed it into a 10-win team in his first year. He transformed Jared Goff in a Pro Bowler and now the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl conversations.
Still, it was one season. That cannot automatically make him one of the best coaches in the business. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. We must see if he can do it again, this time with the burden of expectations on his shoulders. Teams are far more prepared for him than they were last year. Can he overcome that and still have success? If he does, he’ll shoot to the top of this list.
