2018 NFL Power Rankings: Top 32 Head Coaches in the NFL
By Erik Lambert
The funny thing about Sean McDermott ending the longest streak in modern NFL history without the playoffs is he almost completely ruined it. That came with his baffling decision to bench Tyrod Taylor in favor of rookie Nathan Peterman. Five interceptions in one game later he had no choice but to go back to Taylor who guided the team to a wild card berth.
Now Taylor is gone permanent and McDermott is preparing to put his job on the line with another quarterback with a history of uncertain decision-making in Josh Allen. Maybe this gamble will pay off but the current state of the roster leaves doubts as to whether he has that team headed in the right direction. Hopefully he can assuage those fears with a strong statement this season.
