It’s clear to most that Marvin Lewis has banged his head against the glass ceiling for years. He can reach the top many times but can never break through. That ceiling is the playoffs. Since 2003 his Cincinnati Bengals have reached the postseason seven times. Thus far they are 0-7 in postseason play during that span. It’s a dubious record for such a respected head coach.

That said he always manages to keep his team in the mix and they’ve had their share of big regular season wins over the years. Their comeback against Baltimore last season was likely the one that saved Lewis’ job. That still counts for something even if he probably should’ve been fired some time ago. This is likely his last stand. It should be interesting to see how he responds.
