2018 NFL Power Rankings: Top 32 Head Coaches in the NFL
By Erik Lambert
Todd Bowles has yet to make the playoffs as head coach of the New York Jets. This is a problem. Everybody knows an organization only has so much patience for a head coach when a playoff drought gets longer and longer. That said Bowles did a way better job with his team last year than people had any right to expect. Many thought the Jets would go 0-16. Instead they went 5-11. Not great, but not terrible either.
Now for the first time, Bowles has a quarterback room that could be considered a team strength. Teddy Bridgewater, a former Pro Bowler and #3 overall pick Sam Darnold are huge upgrades over the days of Ryan Fitzpatrick and Josh McCown. The young defense he’s helping to build is another strong point in his favor. Can he buy enough time to complete the puzzle? That depends on ownership.
