AFC East players in danger of receiving ‘bust’ label
Cyrus Jones, CB/RS, New England Patriots
Jones is one very rare case of a well-coached, very successful collegiate player at Alabama under Nick Saban not making a significant impact on a Bill Belichick team three years into his rookie contract.
Jones was a second-round pick out of Alabama and was once the Defensive MVP of the Cotton Bowl.
After posting excellent measurables at the 2016 Scouting Combine, Jones was picked with high expectations of becoming a starter for the Patriots relatively quickly.
That has not happened.
Injuries and inconsistency as a return specialist have led to Jones racking up just seven tackles in his NFL career thus far.
He’s fumbled the ball five times on returns, and if he doesn’t turn the ship around quickly, we may see a high draft pick from one of Nick Saban’s best teams at Alabama flame out on the best team in the NFL with the best coach arguably in NFL history, known for his ability to extract the very best out of players.
