The Atlanta Falcons are eyeing an interesting dilemma in which they are trying to decide who to hand a long-term contract extension. Let’s make a case for a couple of important players on the current roster.

There is a science to NFL contracts and the Atlanta Falcons are one of a handful of teams who have impressively managed their contracts and salary caps over the past few seasons.

Under general manager Thomas Dimitroff and head coach Dan Quinn, the team has made an emphasis to sign a core of players who have developed within their system to ultimately create long-term continuity and consistency.

After paying a hefty amount of bucks to essential personnel such as Matt Ryan, Devonta Freeman, Desmond Trufant, Robert Alford, and Ryan Schraeder, the Falcons may be facing a scenario where they will eventually let a key player or two walk away in free agency.

Vital players that are coming up to bat for contract extensions for the Falcons are running back Tevin Coleman and defensive tackle Grady Jarrett, both amidst Julio Jones’ holdout. So for today, we will present a case for both players as to why they may be the likelier of the two to receive a long-term deal.
