College Football: Running Backs Replacing 2018 NFL Draft Picks
By Talon Graff
Georgia – D’Andre Swift, Sophomore; Zamir White, Freshman
Nick Chubb and Sony Michel were the best college running back duo since USC’s Reggie Bush and LenDale White. Combined, Chubb and Michel rushed for over 2,500 yards in 2017, and now Kirby Smart has to fill that massive hole. The Bulldogs may not have to wait very long for their next great duo though.
D’Andre Swift and Zamir White should be able to step in and take over for the departing Chubb and Michel. Swift is a sophomore who spent his first year in Athens serving as the primary backup to the two-headed monster. In his limited role, he was able to rush for 618 yards and three touchdown scampers.
Zamir White is an incoming freshman and widely regarded as the best running back in the recruiting class of 2018. While Swift is a “swifter” back with his lateral quickness and quick feet, White is the more powerful back standing at 6’1 and weighing in at 220lbs.
Even though they are inexperienced, the two should be a force in the SEC and create the best offense in the conference with quarterback Jake Fromm.
