9. Coaches

The Redskins’ coaching staff is impressive from top to bottom. But, at number nine on this list I single out two of them in particular: Bill Callahan and Jim Tomsula.

We hear it so often it has become a cliche but, games are won in the trenches. The Redskins have very talented offensive and defensive lines. They also have two of the best position coaches in the NFL.

Tomsula and Callahan can turn good linemen into great lineman. Once a liability, the offensive and defensive lines are now the strength of this Redskins team.

10. Redskins Will Feast on NFC East

The Cowboys are in disarray. Reports out of Dallas paint a picture of infighting and dysfunction. It would surprise no one if this were Jason Garrett’s last year as coach of the Cowboys. They won’t win 8 games this year.

More from NFL Mocks

Every year fans have to listen to some of the experts talk about how the Giants have retooled this and that and are now ready to make a real push for the playoffs. Please. The Giants will be a lot better than they were last year but they still won’t win eight games.

The Eagles were picked to finish last in the NFC East last year. Surprise! And unfortunately for ‘Skins fans, it was not a fluke. Philly has a very talented team. In fact, they are so good they could have accomplished a rare feat in the NFL.

They could have made a legitimate run at winning back to back Super Bowls. But, a rookie front office mistake will derail those dreams. The Eagles decision to keep both of their star quarterbacks on the roster will prove costly. The QB controversy is firmly in place, and worse, self-imposed.

It’s difficult to imagine how the Philly front office thought this would play out. Last year’s Super Bowl  MVP, Nick Foles, rides the bench while Carson Wentz with only one full year of experience takes back the reins and rides, unscathed, into the playoffs. Wake up!

Wentz will struggle from time to time. Normally no big deal. He just works his way through it. But, this is Philly. You really think Eagles fans are going to tolerate Wentz’s struggles with the current Super Bowl MVP sitting on the bench? For Wentz’s sake, I hope he doesn’t throw an incomplete pass this year.

For the first time since Dan Snyder has owned the team, the Redskins have as much talent, more stability and less dysfunction than any other team in the NFC East. It is certainly within the realm of possibility that Washington could go 4-2 against their division rivals. If they accomplish that, a 10 win season and a trip to the playoffs is well within their reach.
